Blue Angels

The United States Navy’s Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, popularly known as the Blue Angels, first performed in 1946 and is currently the oldest formal flying aerobatic team. The squadron’s six demonstration pilots fly the F/A-18 Hornet in more than 70 shows at 34 locations throughout the United States each year, where they still employ many of the same practices and techniques used in their aerial displays in 1946.

Wings of Blue

The Wings of Blue parachute team from the 98th Flying Training Squadron, has a unique mission to “develop airman through flight in its purest form … stand in  the door!” The 98th Flying Training Squadron Wings of Blue competition parachute team has garnered 29 of the last 40 Collegiate National Championships. The Wings of Blue are the current Collegiate National Champions, the DoD Black and Gold meet champions, and finished at their highest level in squadron history at the US Nationals against all other parachutists, military or civilian.

A-10 East Coast Demo Team

A select group of professionals at Moody Air Force Base are dedicated to showing the extreme capabilities of the A-10 aircraft through exceptional aerial maneuvers.  The first production A-10A was delivered to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., in October 1975. It was designed specially for the close air support mission and had the ability to combine large military loads, long loiter and wide combat radius, which proved to be vital assets to the United States and its allies during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Noble Anvil.

F-18 Super Hornet

As the West Coast Fleet Replacement Squadron for all models of the FA-18 Hornet and Super Hornet, VFA-122 is the largest squadron in the Navy.  We train pilots and naval flight officers for assignment to fleet squadrons as combat-ready naval aviators.  Our students come from all over the United States, as well as students from Australia and the United Kingdom.  After a nine month course of instruction, students report to the front-line fleet squadrons that form the heart of the US Navy’s striking power.
