Cheever Construction is pleased to announce they were selected as a winning entry for the ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.) Cornhusker Chapter’s 2011 Excellence in Construction awards competition.

ABC Cornhusker Chapter (Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.) conducted its 16th annual Excellence in Construction awards competition seeking entries in numerous categories of construction.  Cheever Construction Company was selected as ‘the-best-of-the-best’ in the Renovation – Less than $4 million category for its work on the Gage County Courthouse – Window and Interior Renovation project.  The 120-year old Gage County Courthouse, which is on the National Register for Historic Places, was in need of energy and safety upgrades.  The work included new thermally efficient metal clad window replacement, a total fire suppression system, emergency power for the County Civil Defense, and installation of geo-thermal heat system to replace the aging boiler. Restoration of the original wood coffered 26-foot high ceilings in both the County and District courtrooms provides a dramatic recreation of the buildings former architectural styling.

Due to the high percentage of merit shop (non-union) sub-contractors who performed work on this project, Cheever also won the 2011 Merit Shop Project of the Year award sponsored by INSPRO / EMC Insurance companies.

Cheever Construction Company has been a Lincoln-based business since 1954.  The company is 100% employee-owned and provides General Construction services for new or renovated education, medical, religious and general business projects.
