Since 2009, fifteen Lincoln Quilters Guild members have met monthly to sew quilts for veterans. The Quilts of Valor (QOV) are stitched with love, prayers and healing thoughts and are a tangible token of appreciation that unequivocally says, “Thank you for your service, sacrifice and valor.”  On the third Friday of each month these quilts are awarded to veterans in the community at the VA Coffeehaus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (the public is always welcome).

Recently, Hospice Community Care of Nebraska (www.hospicecarenebraska.com) and QOV teamed up to honor veterans on hospice.  As a partner in the national “We Honor Veterans” program, Hospice Community Care of Nebraska recognizes veterans receiving hospice services with a pinning ceremony.  The ceremony and awarding of the quilt is their way to show gratitude and say thank you to their patients and families for their service and sacrifices to our nation.
