James Arthur Vineyards will host their 16th annual Renaissance Festival on Saturday, May 18th from noon to 8:00 p.m.  The Society for Creative Anachronism will conduct combat demonstrations.  Additionally the S.C.A. artisans and entertainers, as well as local artists Chris Sayre, The Throwing Picassos and Folk Harpist Jennifer Buehler, will provide Renaissance-style entertainment throughout the day. The festival will include a large children’s area with games and crafts, such as a costume station, archery, feather writing, and building castles.

James Arthur Vineyards features different styles of award winning wines, including Mead, which is made from honey. Mead is considered the oldest wine in history, and was very popular throughout the Middle Ages. The winery will provide wine tastings for the festival, including their Mead.  Food will also be available throughout the festival, including turkey drumsticks, half chickens and other delectable medieval selections.  The admission fee for the festival is $2 per person, with all proceeds going to Heartland Big Brothers/Big Sisters. There will also be a charge for wine, food and children’s activities.

James Arthur Vineyards is Nebraska’s largest and most awarded winery, located just north of Lincoln near Raymond.
