Fourteen-year-old Nicholas Herringer liked to lift weights, play video games and just hang out with his friends. That normal life for this teenager drastically changed when shortly before his 15th birthday, Nick was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma brain cancer.  Nick underwent brain surgery at UNMC in February to remove the tumor and has been going through treatments at Children’s Hospital in Omaha since that time.

In April, Make-A-Wish Nebraska sent a wish granting team to visit with Nick to discover what his one true wish would be.   Nick did not hesitate to tell them, “I wish to have my car redone.  I want a really cool car.”  Once Nicholas’s wish was approved through the foundation and his physician, his wish granters came back to let him know his special wish would come true.

Nicholas’s parents had purchased a 2011 Dodge Avenger, and Nicholas came up with a list of the renovations that he would really like.   Included in the list were a white paint job, 22” rims, LED lights and a great sound system. Make-A-Wish Nebraska enlisted the help of Robert Peinado and his team at GP Customs in Lincoln, who enthusiastically wanted to help with Nick’s wish, donating and discounting many of the enhancements and labor for the car’s renovation. Robert and GP Customs staff unveiled Nick’s special wish vehicle on October 2nd, which was followed by party to celebrate.
