On Aug. 21, SCC and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Welcome Center/Classroom Addition on the Lincoln Campus. More than 200 people attended the event.

The new addition includes a welcome center; a “one-stop” student services center for admissions, financial aid, registration, and bill-paying; nine classrooms; and a large multipurpose room occupy the majority of the upper level. Seven classrooms, a computer lab and faculty/staff office space have been added to the lower level. The addition was built on to the existing structure near the Business Administration section.

Students will use the new space for the first time on Oct. 1, the first day of SCC’s Fall Quarter.

Construction on the 65,000 square-foot addition, called the V Section, began about 14 months ago. SCC’s Board of Governors awarded the project to Cheever Construction Company of Lincoln. The project’s cost is around $7 million and was paid for out of the College’s capital improvement fund.  More than 400 additional parking spaces also were added.
