SCORE Honors Nebraska Small Businesses

SCORE (www.score.org), the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors, recently announced the winners of the fourth annual American Small Business Championship. A total of 102 winners across 49 states and the District of Columbia will each receive expert training, resources and networking opportunities.

Among the winners were two Nebraska-based businesses, with one here in Lincoln. Manda’s Pandas Child Care Center offers unique 24/7 daycare service, which opens up opportunities for parents who work during non-traditional hours. They welcome children and families from all circumstances, even offering up hot meals and invested teachers for children who may not receive that otherwise. The other Nebraska winner, Slezak Ag & Natural Resources, hails from nearby Milligan, NE. They work with clients towards the use of natural resources, a large portion being rescuing and reusing tree logs. These businesses will receive a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, an all-expense-paid trip to a training event, and SCORE mentoring for one year.

This summer, the winners will also compete for three grand prizes of $25,000 each, to be awarded at the SCORE Awards Gala on Sept. 14. The Championship is made possible with a generous grant from Sam’s Club, the nationwide membership club built on the foundation of helping small business owners succeed.
