Ten people representing their businesses participated in the first “Broadcast Your Business” event held Feb. 18 at Southeast Community College.

The event was part of SCC’s celebration of National Entrepreneurship Week and was held in the auditorium inside SCC’s Continuing Education Center in Lincoln. Vanessa Flowers and Dave Roberts, anchors at KOLN-KGIN TV in Lincoln, served as emcees for the event, which was sponsored by SCC’s Business Incubator in partnership with SCC’s Training Solutions department and Strictly Business Magazine.

Presentations were made by Linda Bryant of the VOICE News, Tess Schwenka of Firework Media, Kelly Brooks of Boost My Fuel, Wendy Tridle of Organize by Design, Cathy Beecham of Fuse Co-Working, Beka Doolittle of thepinkstore.com, Mindy McGrew of McGrew Staging & Design, Terrie Urtel of Serendipities Cupcakes, Ed Conklin of Central Data Storage, and Stewart Olson of Opa-O’s.

Each business representative received five minutes each to highlight their business and present a “call to action.” They also took one question from the audience.

Each business utilized on-screen text and graphics. Some brought their actual product to the presentation. At the end of their five minutes, representatives issued the audience a call to action. Some included trying a new product, visiting a location, asking for assistance with Web or social media, help with creating promotional strategies, and seeking an investor.
