Union Bank Donating $125K to Food Bank of Lincoln’s BackPack Program

Union Bank (UBT) (ubt.com/next100) was founded 100 years ago and one way it is celebrating this milestone anniversary is to donate $125,000 to the Food Bank of Lincoln and its BackPack Program. The donation will provide 500 additional students a food-filled backpack for the entire 2017-18 school year.

“The Food Bank does a remarkable job in their mission of alleviating hunger in Lincoln and Southeast Nebraska. One of their most impactful programs is the BackPack program,” stated Kevin Keller, First Vice President of Union Bank. “We believe supporting the BackPack program is one way we can invest in the lives of our children to give them hope for a bright future.”

More than simply donating funds for more BackPacks, Union Bank employees wanted to help. Over 150 employees are volunteering to assemble food for the BackPacks and help distribute them in schools across Lincoln.

“Union Bank’s gift to the kids of our community means that 17,000 food-filled BackPacks will support kids and their families as they learn, grow and thrive in our community,” said Scott Young, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Lincoln. “Union Bank is helping the dreams of our community’s families come true.”

Union Bank invites individuals, families and businesses to join them in supporting the Food Bank’s BackPack program. The bank is accepting donations in all their Lincoln branch locations or online at ubt.com/next100. It is a tax-deductible donation to the Food Bank of Lincoln. All proceeds will be used to support the BackPack program for additional students.
