The Nationwide Insurance Foundation presented The Food Bank of Lincoln with a gift of $20,000, a major contribution that will be used in part to support the expansion of the summer BackPack Program in Lincoln.
The Food Bank is receiving the funds as part of a $1 million donation being made to the national office of Feeding America and 21 of its member Food Banks in communities where Nationwide Insurance associates live and work. Allied/Nationwide associates will be packing and delivering 120 food-filled backpacks per week to students at Belmont, Huntington and Culler Middle School programs this summer.
The funds will also be used to support the agency work and mobile pantry programs of the Food Bank. It is estimated that more than 8,000 people a week are the recipients of Food Bank food.
