Gateway SERTOMA Club of Lincoln members presented Tabitha Health Care Services President and CEO, Christie Hinrichs, with a check for $30,000 to support Tabitha Meals on Wheels. The proceeds came directly from the group’s 9th annual golf tournament on June 10.

The generous donation will provide for more than 5,400 hot meals to Tabitha Meals on Wheels clients. The program serves an average of over 400 meals a day to Lincoln individuals who can no longer prepare a hot meal. Seventy percent of clients are unable to pay the $5.50 cost for a meal because of financial constraints.

Proceeds from the tournament were raised by sponsors, donors, silent auction items and a record 128 golfers. Also involved were teams from the Lincoln Journal Star and KLKN-TV who competed head to head in the Corporate Media Challenge. KLKN-TV came out on top to earn bragging rights and the tournament trophy.

Next year’s 10th anniversary Sertoma Golf Tournament to benefit Tabitha Meals on Wheels is scheduled for June 8, 2012.

Gateway SERTOMA, dedicated to SERvice TO MAnkind, has been contributing to the Lincoln community for fifty years. The club holds weekly breakfast meetings at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesdays at Grandmothers, 6940 A St.
