Lancaster Manor began operations as the County nursing home facility in 1970, in the former Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital at 10th and South Streets. In 1987 residents were moved to the current building. With a licensed capacity of 293, Lancaster Manor is Nebraska’s largest nursing home. On January 1, 2010 the County transferred the operations to Extended Care Consulting, LLC of Evanston, Illinois. According to Administrator Keith Fickenscher, Lancaster Manor Rehabilitation Center employs over 300 FTE. About 75% of the current resident population of 225 is Medicaid. All beds are dually licensed for Medicaid and Medicare. Services available include professional nursing care, restorative therapy, therapeutic diets, respite care, individual and group activities and a full range of physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapies. Major remodeling plans will be undertaken in 2011.
