Advanced Medical Imaging Increases Diagnostic Scanners

Advanced Medical Imaging (AMI; AMImaging.com) strives to provide the highest quality of diagnostic imaging at the lowest possible cost to patients. To achieve this, they are continually adding new technology and what is known in the medical world as “modalities.” The newest addition to the imaging center is a second CT scanner. “By adding a second CT scanner, we will add flexibility and convenience for patients,” said Georgia Blobaum, chief operations officer of AMI. “With diagnostic scans, waiting is the worst part. We want to get patients answers as fast as possible. By adding more machines, we are able to see (patients) faster, when it is convenient for them.”

This past year, AMI added a third MRI machine, making it the only location in Lincoln to offer an Open MRI, a 3T High Definition MRI and a standard 1.5T MRI. The full-service imaging center also boasts nuclear medicine scans, ultrasound imaging, X-rays and PET/CT scan services. This fall, AMI plans to improve technology in their women’s center by increasing their number of 3D mammography modalities and adding an upright stereotactic breast biopsy option. AMI performs more mammograms than any independent office in Nebraska and October, known as breast cancer awareness month, is the busiest time of the year for breast screening.

All scans are read by board-certified radiologists. The independent, physician-owned practice is constantly growing. AMI currently is made up of over 30 doctors, the only practice in Lincoln with specialists in all areas of radiology. To avoid higher costs for diagnostic scans, patients are encouraged tell their primary care providers that they prefer AMI. For more information, call (402) 484-6677 or visit AMImaging.com.
