Dr. Johnson of Access Family Medicine Attends Direct Primary Care Summit

Dr. Todd Johnson of Access Family Medicine (www.accessfamilymedicine.com) recently returned from the 2017 Direct Primary Care Summit held in Washington DC. This event presented physicians with an opportune time to meet with Congress. There was dialogue regarding Direct Primary Care (DPC) and the many benefits the DPC community is experiencing across the nation, while also focusing on the future and the untapped potential of DPC. The conference was held June15-17 and was an ideal time to brainstorm on continuing the momentum of DPC as well as to collectively tackle issues within the existing practices. Currently there are several members of Congress and Senate that are very familiar with DPC and see the exponential benefits tied to this type of health care model. Other members are very eager to learn more, as their initial exposure has been very impressive. Currently, President Trump has proposed a pilot project that will include the DPC model in Medicaid, and the DPC community is eager to see this take place.
