Nebraska Safety Council Raises Awareness on the Value of Safety and Wellness

Governor Pete Ricketts signed a proclamation to officially recognize OSHA’s Safe + Sound week, August 13-19, in the state of Nebraska. The governors of Kansas and Missouri also issued proclamations. More than 1,700 organizations participated in the nationwide Safe + Sound Week.

In conjunction with OSHA’s Safe + Sound campaign, the Nebraska Safety Council (www.nesafetycouncil.org) held a symposium to recognize the importance of safety and wellness programs in the workplace.

Nationally recognized expert Richard Kersh’s keynote address covered increasing productivity in corporations by tying together safety and wellness metrics. The Director of the OSHA Area Office Jeff Funke and President of USMWF Tonya Ford were also speakers at the event. Sponsors of the free event included DHHS and CHI Health.
