The American Heart Association has announced Lynette Helling and Heath Boddy as co-chairs for the 2011 Lincoln Start! Heart Walk on April 30.

The Start! Heart Walk, presented by BryanLGH Medical Center and BryanLGH Heart Institute, is from 8 a.m. to noon on April 30. The annual walking event is a noncompetitive, family-friendly way to raise awareness and funds to fight cardiovascular diseases. Heart disease and stroke, respectively, are the number one and number four causes of death in Nebraska and nationwide.

Helling, franchise owner of Interim HealthCare of Lincoln, is a registered nurse who has worked in the home healthcare field for more than 20 years. Caring for patients and working with families affected by cardiac and vascular events is a cornerstone of her work.

Boddy is executive director of the Nebraska Health Care Association, the organization representing the majority of Nebraska’s nursing home and assisted living facilities. He also serves as executive director for the Licensed Practical Nurse Association of Nebraska and the Nebraska Hospice and Palliative Care Association.
