More than 35 children of Lincoln area military members kicked off the “Month of the Military Child,” at Wilderness Ridge golf course on Saturday April 2nd with a free golf clinic put on by the Wilderness Ridge golf instruction team and Lincoln area PGA golf professionals and instructors.

This is the second year Wilderness Ridge hosted this event to recognize the “Month of the Military Child.”  Chris Thomson PGA head golf professional at Wilderness Ridge told the crowd before the clinic, “the PGA is a huge supporter of our military service members and their families.  We appreciate what you sacrifice to defend our freedoms.”

The clinic featured the instruction of Thomson and PGA golf professionals David Honnens, Maureen Farrell and several members of the Wilderness Ridge team.  The military youth were taught everything from golf course etiquette to driving, chipping and putting.  The children ranged in age from 4-16 and consisted of boys and girls.

The clinic ended with a raffle drawing for free tickets to a Lincoln Saltdogs game and other prizes, and then the kids enjoyed a barbeque presented by Wilderness Ridge.
