American Cancer Society Announces 10th Anniversary Hope Gala Partnership With Norland Pure

This year’s event will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Hillcrest Country Club.

This year about 600,920 Americans are expected to die of cancer, that’s more than 1,645 people a day. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US, and accounts for nearly one of every four deaths. Among children ages 1 to 14, cancer is the second leading cause of death, following accidents. The annual cost of cancer in the U.S. is an estimated $87.8 billion.

Since 1946, the American Cancer Society has invested over $4.5 billion in innovative cancer research. As the nation’s largest private, nonprofit source of funds for scientists studying cancer, we focus our funding on investigator-initiated, peer-reviewed proposals. The success of this research program is exemplified by the fact that 47 Society-funded researchers have received a Nobel Prize.. Currently in Nebraska we have three research grants totaling over $760,000.

“So many of us have been touched by cancer in some significant way. This Hope Gala is our way to fight the battles we can sometimes not wage ourselves. The monies raised at this elegant and entertaining evening go directly to benefit those fighting cancer throughout Lincoln and our immediate region including services and life-saving research. We hope you’ll join us in this fight and celebrate with us those who are winning the battle,” according to Bonnie Paschold, Co-Chairman of the 2017 Hope Gala.
