Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) is aiming for 25,000 Nebraskans, individually or as a group, to participate in the sixth annual National Walk at Lunch Day, April 25.

One of the state’s largest health events, National Walk at Lunch Day has grown each year since it launched in 2007; last year more than 220 organizations and 16,000 people participated.

Registering will give Nebraskans access to helpful information in planning a walk and will help BCBSNE keep tabs of participation numbers toward the 25,000 goal.

Participation is simple: Businesses and schools organize their own walks, choosing a time and place that is most convenient, while individuals walk at their leisure.  National Walk at Lunch Day is designed to encourage healthy living habits for a lifetime. Walking is one of the easiest and best ways to get and stay in shape. With Nebraska’s obesity rate nearly doubling the past 15 years, getting regular physical activity is as important as ever.
