CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocates is a non-profit program that trains volunteers who are appointed by judges to speak in court for the safety and well-being of abused and neglected children. CASA has been in Nebraska for over 25 years and serves 36 Nebraska Counties. CASA volunteers served 1,237 children in 2011. At the end of 2011, there were still 1,400 children on a waiting list for CASA services in Nebraska.
