Friendship Home Prepares Community for Safe Quarters on October 21

On Sunday, October 21, you can expect to hear a knock on your door from a Safe Quarters volunteer. On that day, over a thousand volunteers will walk the city, collecting monetary donations from Lincoln households. Safe Quarters is Friendship Home’s (www.friendshiphome.org) largest fundraiser, raising over $100,000 in the past for victims of domestic violence.

The money Safe Quarters brings in will help meet the needs of the 1,500 victims that Friendship Home will serve this year. Funds collected provide a safe, confidential home, crisis services, and ongoing support for families who are rebuilding their lives because of domestic violence. Friendship Home is continually seeking ways to provide a continuum of safe, confidential shelter options—from emergency shelter through transitional shelter.

It costs just $10 to provide a victim of domestic violence with one night of safe shelter and warm meals. Please open your door to Friendship Home volunteers on October 21 and give generously.

Are you interested in being a part of Safe Quarters? There is still time to register a volunteer team. To register, visit www.friendshiphome.org, or contact Sarah at saraht@friendshiphome.org with questions.

Friendship Home exists to support, shelter and advocate for victims of domestic violence and their children. They support the journeys of victims and their children, and value an environment that enables them to understand their strengths. To do this, the organization is creatively adapting their approach, programs, and services to meet each individual’s unique needs.
