Lincoln-Lancaster County Crime Stoppers to Honor Local Officers

Lincoln-Lancaster County Crime Stoppers (lincolncrimestoppers.blogspot.com) will recognize three local law enforcement officers for their work in solving cases using tips submitted to Crime Stoppers during the last year. One officer each from the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department will be honored at the Crime Stoppers Awards Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 13 from Noon – 1:00 p.m. at the Cornhusker Marriott. Proceeds from the event will support Lincoln-Lancaster County Crime Stoppers, an independent nonprofit organization. Over the last five years 1,134 cases have been cleared resulting in 1,420 arrests due to anonymous tips submitted to Lincoln-Lancaster County Crime Stoppers. During the same period of time 9,507 tips were submitted. Over the lifetime of the program more than 43,000 tips have been submitted leading to more than 11,000 cleared cases. The top five categories for crimes solved through tips are: 1. Drugs; 2. Theft; 3. Warrants; 4. Robbery; 5. Fraud.
