The Lincoln Rotary Club #14 Foundation supports a broad range of activities and recently approved a number of  community grants, primarily for Lincoln organizations. Grant amounts range from $250 – $5,000, and priority is given to specific projects over general operating requests.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County ($5,000) funds to support Project Learn Summer Program

Bright Lights, Inc. ($2,644) funds to support students at Elliott School to attend Bright Lights summer learning classes

CASA for Lancaster County ($4,500) funds to recruit and train 25-30 volunteers as advocates for kids with truancy and/or behavior issues

The Gathering Place ($2,000) funds to support exterior trim painting on the Gathering Place’s building.

Fresh Start Inc. ($2,858) funds to support costs of weekly workshop and self-sufficiency related supplies; two painting projects and a gardening project with outside community groups.

Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters ($1,360) to assist with costs for four project DISCOVER activities on STEM and opportunities to explore the arts; along with individual and group mentoring activities that focus on helping youth to improve academically and socially.

Joshua Collingsworth Memorial Foundation ($2,138) to support “Josh the Otter” Water Safety and Awareness Project and the collateral educational materials for Lincoln children in Pre-K and Kindergarten.

Lincoln Community Foundation ($2,350) funds to support a Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom at Southern Heights Food Forest in collaboration with Community Crops and Southern Heights Presbyterian Church.

Lincoln Literacy ($5,000) funds to expand FLAIR program (Family Literacy Activities for Immigrants and Refugees) to middle and high schools; 300 children; 800 adults.

Malone Community Center ($2,050) funds as support for 2 programs: team festival attendance, and poetry slam team support.

Mourning Hope Grief Center ($5,000) funds as assistance for a weekend-long “Camp Erin Lincoln” during the summer or fall of 2014. A camp created and funded by The Moyer Foundation that is the largest nationwide network of free bereavement camps for children and teens ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of someone close to them.

Nebraska Children & Families Foundation ($4,000) funds to support Project Everlast -Opportunity Passport asset development program which provides financial literacy training and matched savings accounts to help youth with foster care experience make more secure transitions to adulthood.

The HUB ($4,100) funds for assistance for 25 GED students topay for pre-tests, tests, and graduation fees.

Voices of Hope ($3,000) funds to support costs of increased numbers of children in child care, including diapers, snacks, art supplies, print materials, and play equipment; also funding for additional print materials and for cab fares and bus passes for individuals attending group or screening sessions who have no other transportation.
