St. Monica’s celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014 with a host of special events, including an alumni reunion, an official celebration event, breaking ground on its new Outdoor Education Center at its Project Mother & Child home and Early Childhood Center, and another successful year of the Amazing Chase fundraiser. In honor of this milestone and in recognition of the local non-profit’s outstanding work in the Lincoln community, the year culminated with Mayor Chris Beutler proclaiming December 22, 2014 as “St. Monica’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Day.” According to the official proclamation, this special day marked the agency’s tireless work in “increasing awareness and understanding of behavioral health and the need for appropriate and accessible behavioral health services for all members of our community.” Over the past 50 years St. Monica’s has greatly expanded its services to help women and their families overcome the challenges of substance abuse and mental illness. With effective treatment, St. Monica’s has assisted many women in our community with recovering from addiction. These women have gone on to lead full and productive lives, to be better parents, and to make significant contributions to our community.
