Nelnet, Union Bank & Trust Come Together to Raise Over $1M for United Way

Mike Dunlap, executive chairman of Nelnet, and Angie Muhleisen, CEO of Union Bank & Trust, turned old-fashioned sibling rivalry into collaboration for an ambitious goal this year. Each challenged their respective organizations to be a big part of reaching a combined $1 million goal for the United Way/Community Health Charities campaign.

“We had fun challenging Nelnet and Union Bank associates to jointly raise $1,000,000 for United Way. It is so exciting to have exceeded that goal,” stated Angie Muhleisen, CEO of Union Bank. “Our employees care deeply about the community and they embrace the mission and values of United Way.”

At the United Way/Community Health Charities campaign kickoff on Thursday, September 7, it was announced that their combined total exceeded $1.1 million.

“At Nelnet, giving back to the community is one of our Core Values,” said Dunlap. “We’re thrilled to have been able to join forces with Union Bank and our local United Way partners to achieve our $1 million goal and look forward to continuing to support those in need in our community.”

“We are fortunate to have many strong community partners,” said Brian Wachman, executive director of United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County. “But to have these two organizations come together and raise over $1 million to benefit children, individuals and families in our community is truly amazing and humbling.”
