The Southeast Community College Art Department has announced their involvement in several upcoming events.

ArtVenture, one of the most beloved and popular programs offered by Girl Scouts, is an arts education-based leadership program that provides girls with the opportunity to collaborate with professional artists to create an original work of art. Girls work alongside artists throughout the entire process, from conception through completion. These works of art, along with additional pieces donated by professional artists, are then sold at a silent auction from which all proceeds benefit Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska.  The Lincoln artVenture is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. April 26 in Lincoln Station’s Great Hall. Cost is $20 per person. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served. Persons are asked to RSVP to Jenny at jcardwell@girlscoutsnebraska.org or call (402) 875-4345. Go to www.girlscoutsnebraska.org/support/art-venture to learn more.

The Beatrice Public Library will also host an interactive public art installation sponsored by SCC’s Art Department. The works will be on display from April 11-26 and be in the form of a chalkboard wall with an invitation to visitors to respond to the prompt “In a perfect world . . .” Colored chalks will be provided, and visitors are encouraged to express their thoughts and artistry in this familiar medium.
