Tabitha, your answer for Elder Care, recently was ranked among the year’s top three non-profit organizations in Nebraska by GreatNonprofits, a website that enables visitors to find and review charitable organizations. Tabitha was selected based on public nominations and positive feedback from site users. Tabitha was the only winning organization from the Lincoln/Lancaster County area.

Tabitha, a serving arm of the ELCA and a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, is committed to its Christian mission of service, believing that all Elders—even those who have outlived their resources or who have no family to care for them—deserve the same compassionate care. Seventy-five percent of Tabitha’s clients rely on government-run reimbursement programs like Medicare and Medicaid to pay for their care. Donations to the organization help make up the shortfall between reimbursements and actual cost of care.

A volunteer force several hundred strong assist Tabitha’s day-to-day operations by delivering Meals on Wheels, greeting guests and visitors, making personal visits to Elders, assisting in life enrichment activities, providing compassionate end-of-life support and much more.
