A Warmer Day Distributes More Than 400 Coats Locally

A Warmer Day (www.awarmerday.org), a local all-volunteer charity, distributed more than 400 coats to those in need on Saturday, October 21st. The distribution took place at the F Street Community center in partnership with Cowboy Chicken, which also provided a delicious meal to the children at the center.

In addition to coats, A Warmer Day also distributed a great deal of hats, boots, scarves, gloves and mittens. There were often dozens waiting outside of their distribution truck during the 3-hour event. Valerie Conde, one of the founders of A Warmer Day, stated, “The event was much larger than anticipated and was a remarkable success. No one had to leave empty-handed.”

A Warmer Day collects coats and other winter apparel for underprivileged children and families. All of the coats are laundered at no cost by the organization’s partners Starcrest Cleaners and Laundry Land before being distributed. A Warmer Day will host at least four additional distributions this year in southeast Nebraska.

You can contribute to their mission by donating a coat at one of their 50 donation drop-off sites located in Lincoln, Omaha, Beatrice, and surrounding towns. You can also make a tax-deductible financial contribution online at www.awarmerday.org. Your contribution will be used to cover the expenses associated with their collection and distribution efforts. A Warmer Day is an all-volunteer organization and has no payroll.
