Pius X Alumna Christy Kruger to Lead Softball Program

Athletic Director Tim Aylward ’69 has announced that Christy (Kobza) Kruger ’05 will be the new head softball coach at Pius X High School (www.piusx.net. Kruger replaces Coach Don Rempe who stepped down last fall after 5 years at the Thunderbolt helm.

Kruger served as a Thunderbolt assistant coach under Rempe and coaches a select softball team for the Nebraska Blue Diamonds.

As a former Thunderbolt softball player and captain, Kruger was a 4-year letter winner and earned All-State and All-City honors. She was a part of the 2002 State Championship Softball Team and along with her 2003 and 2004 teammates, holds four hitting records. She also holds the catching records for number of runners caught stealing (17) and throw-out percentage (66%). Her post high school softball career continued as a 4-year letterman at Doane College (2007-2011) where she was named GPAC Player of the Week, a NAIA Scholar Athlete, and NAIA All-Conference.
