Concordia University, Nebraska Emeritus Professor Honored as Outstanding Accounting Educator

Stanley Obermueller, emeritus professor of business administration at Concordia University, Nebraska, (cune.edu) was the recipient of the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants 2015 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award. He accepted the award at the 15th Annual FALL CPE Conference on October 26.

“It has been said that the people with whom one is surrounded are important determinants of success. That is certainly the case for me. I would not be standing in front of you today without the influence of many individuals,” Obermueller said during his acceptance speech. “I feel very blessed that I had so many wonderful students with whom to learn and grow. I was also surrounded with talented, hard-working colleagues who were committed to our students and the mission of Concordia. President [Brian] Friedrich and his administration enabled our success by providing the necessary resources and fostering an environment in which the business department could thrive.”

Concordia students Mary Leising, a senior from Arapahoe, NE and Rebekah Uden, a senior from Kenesaw, NE received scholarships at the event from the Foundation of the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants. Leising received a $2,000 scholarship in association with Obermueller’s award. Uden received a $1,000 scholarship designated for a Concordia student on the basis of the number of accounting students at the university. Concordia’s business department chose Leising and Uden as recipients for the scholarships.
