Southeast Community College is offering two initial Certified Lead Renovator training classes and, for the first time in Lincoln, training will be provided in Spanish.

The instruction and testing in Spanish will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18 in Room 102 of SCC’s Continuing Education Center at 301 S. 68th St. Place. Cost is $175 per person.

All of the instruction and testing in the second class will be in English. That class will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 23 in Room 303 of the CEC. Cost is $175 per person.

The classes are the initial eight-hour lead renovator training for contractors and employees required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to protect children during renovation, repair and painting activities that disturb lead-based paint.

The training will be conducted in partnership with Midwest Training Institute, an EPA-accredited training provider. Topics include lead paint hazards, regulations, tools, personal protective equipment, work area setup, safe work practices, job completion procedures, and recordkeeping.
