Southeast Community College is pleased to announce their National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter has taken first place in the Outstanding Chapter competition.

It marked the 18th time in the past 20 years SCC’s Chapter received one of the top three awards. The Chapter received a plaque and a check for $2,100. Second place went to Delgado Community College of New Orleans, while third place was awarded Killingly High School in Danielson, Conn. Applications were evaluated by judges prior to the International Builder’s Show Jan. 12-15 in Orlando.

SCC’s Chapter is sponsored by the HBAL. Chartered in May 1990, the Chapter has 34 student members from the Building Construction Technology program.

There are 150 NAHB Student Chapters across the nation with more than 4,000 members. Chapters are from secondary, career-technical centers, and two- and four-year colleges.
