Strictly Business Magazine and Midwest Speed Networking are teaming up for a speed networking session Aug. 4 at Red9 in Lincoln. Strictly Business will sponsor the event, which will begin with registration at 5 p.m. at Red9, 322 S. 9th St. The event will start at 5:30.
Speed networking allows business professionals to talk to each other one-on-one for a few minutes, then rotate and talk to a new person. During each brief encounter, professionals are encouraged to share what they do, exchange business cards and seek referrals.
The concept is similar to speed dating only for business professionals, said Lori McGinnis Black, owner of Midwest Speed Networking and Midwest Speed Dating. “Speed networking is a more structured form of business networking,” she said. “It’s more organized than a big networking event where people mingle and have to walk up cold to someone they don’t know.”
Rather, speed networking allows participants to naturally flow from person to person and have brief conversations with all other professionals attending.
