The Nebraska Health Care Association/Nebraska Assisted Living Association held its Annual Legislative Day on Jan. 27 at The Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln. Approximately 120 people with an interest in Nebraska’s long term care profession attended the day’s education program which discussed potential health care reform impacts on nursing homes and assisted living facilities, Nebraska-specific legislative issues, and grassroots advocacy. Speakers included F. Reed Franklin, Government Relations Director, American Health Care Association, Washington, D.C.; Former State Senator Tim Gay, Husch Blackwell, LLP, Omaha; and Brendon Polt, J.D., Director of Government Relations, Nebraska Health Care Association. The program was followed by a lunch attended by Nebraska senators.
