Put It Where The Sun Shines!

Located at 6030 Havelock Ave. in Lincoln, J-Tech Solar is a family owned and operated company specializing in renewable energy. J-Tech Solar’s parent company, J-Tech Construction, was established in 2004 and has been doing exterior remodeling such as triple pane windows and seamless siding ever since. The decision to branch out into the solar industry came years later when CEO, Jason Olberding, recognized the pressing need for sustainable resources and the alarming lack of options Nebraskans had when it came to alternative energy.

As of 2015, Nebraska was ranked 47th among the 50 U.S states for renewable energy. To Jason, this was unacceptable. Though J-Tech’s crew had been trained and doing installs around Nebraska for over five years at this point, the team realized then that it was time to dive further into the industry. So, in order to create recognition and awareness, J-Tech Solar was born.

As it turns out, the timing could not have been better. Federal tax incentives, rebates from local utilities, increased competition amongst manufacturing companies, and new technology has driven the cost of installing solar down more than 60% since 2010. Coupling these factors with the increasing brand awareness of J-Tech Solar, 2016 was a very successful year for J-Tech and the solar industry. Not only did they complete several residential and commercial photovoltaic solar panel system installs, but in December 2016 they also started work on the largest user-owned solar panel system install in Nebraska. This 300KW, 940-panel system is located in the Haymarket in Lincoln and is set to be completed before spring. On top of all of that, J-Tech also opened its second office at 3308 W. Capital Ave. in Grand Island in 2016.

Jason and his team at J-Tech know that this success would not be possible without the overwhelming support they receive from the community.  To emphasize this, J-Tech takes every opportunity to get involved with local charities and events. Working closely with NeighborWorks Lincoln and other organizations, J-Tech donates time, money, and resources to projects such as the community build taking place at 2336 Q Street in Lincoln, and it’s things such as these that make J-Tech stand out. Their team even volunteers once a month at the Matt Talbot Kitchen. When asked about their community involvement Jason says he’s always looking for more opportunities to help others and encourages his employees to do the same.

The newest addition to the J-Tech team is Solar Design Engineer Drew Coffey. This addition allows J-Tech to provide free consultations and estimates to determine if solar is right for you.
