With 58 locations across eight different states, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is clearly a successful restaurant. Lincoln was able to finally experience the restaurant, which opened its first location nearly ten years ago in Fort Worth, Texas, when Fuzzy’s opened in September on 14th and O Street. The fresh, handmade Baja-style Mexican food is served quickly to those who are on a lunch break or rushing to an event downtown, yet patrons are also welcome to linger in the bright, fun atmosphere with a beer or margarita. Perfect for downtown! We visited Fuzzy’s on a Friday afternoon to pick up food for the office to try and were pleased to see that the new restaurant had a good lunch crowd. We had the chance to browse the menu while we waited and came up with a nice selection of entrees to try out.

Fuzzy’s menu is a good combination of salads, tacos, dinners, breakfast items, sandwiches and soups. You’ll find Mexican food favorites like shredded beef burritos and enchilada plates, as well as unique items like shrimp, egg and cheese breakfast tacos and tempura fish grilled sandwiches. We started with the black bean soup, chips and queso and chicken quesadilla, then moved on to the salad portion of the menu and selected the tempura shrimp salad and grilled veggie salad (both were available in small or large sizes and were topped with tomatoes, onions, shredded cheese, feta, cilantro, chips and dressing).

If you’re a taco lover, there’s a lot to like about Fuzzy’s! Their baja tacos can be ordered soft or crispy and varieties include special ground beef, grilled fish, tempura shrimp, shredded spicy pork, grilled veggie and more. We tried the grilled shrimp and the shredded beef (both crispy) and were very impressed. From the Mexican dinner choices, we sampled the tamale plate (choice of chicken or pork) and beef fajita plate. All Mexican dinners are served with two sides, choices of which are mix-mex fried rice (similar to what you would find at a Chinese food restaurant with a Mexican flair), Lime Rice, Latin fried potatoes, borracho beans, black beans or refried beans. The tamales were a staff favorite and were especially good when generously topped with Fuzzy’s wonderful guacamole and fire-roasted salsa!

Want something different? Check out Fuzzy’s breakfast menu which is available all day. They have seven different varieties of breakfast burritos and tacos, a breakfast sandwich to die for (two fried eggs, bacon, shredded cheese and jalapenos served with a side of Latin fried potatoes) and breakfast favorites like Huevos Rancheros, Migas (two scrambled eggs with chorizo) and Chilaquiles (two scrambled eggs, tortilla strips, shredded cheese and Pico de Gallo).

Of course, you’ll need something to quench your thirst while enjoying your Fuzzy’s food, so you can enjoy their sodas, teas, coffee or one of their beers, margaritas, wines or Fuzzy Drivers in the full bar.

Fuzzy’s location as well as their atmosphere and choice of a quick meal or a nice sitdown dining experience will ensure their success in Lincoln. We encourage anyone who loves fresh, vibrant food in a fun environment to give Fuzzy’s a try!
