Tell us a little about your business.

At The Waterford Communities we offer adult day services, respite care, long-term care and hospice care. We have amazing staff that truly become like family to our residents. We offer 3 meals a day with snacks in between. We provide daily housekeeping and laundry services. All of rooms come equipped with basic cable and internet services. We have activities that include, but are not limited to: exercises, bingo, Wii, arts & crafts, bible study and live entertainment that visit our facility throughout the year. We have a beautician and a nurse practitioner that visits our facility on a weekly basis, with our nurse practitioner also being available as needed. We also have a podiatrist that visits our facility as needed.

How did you get started in the business?

From a young age I knew I wanted to help people. I obtained my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and began working in skilled nursing, but then switched to assisted living and continued my education in order to become a licensed Medication Aide. At that point I knew that I’d found my calling.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

Healthcare professionals are able to really connect with people. My passion to help others often results in forming bonds with my residents on a personal level, and while I consider that to be an incredible blessing, at times it can also make things extremely hard.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Most recently, it’s been obtaining my Assisted Living Administrator license.

Tell us a little about your family.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Korey, for 12 years. We have two children: Jayden (11) and Brianna (10 mos.).

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Definitely spending time with my family and being outdoors.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?

Caring.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?

Probably a lawyer.

What is your favorite movie?

My Sister’s Keeper.

What is your favorite TV show?

Grey’s Anatomy.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill.
