Tell us a little about your business. – We are a family-owned building business that has been serving Lincoln and the surrounding communities for 20 years. We strive to make the home building experience exciting and fun for our clients through communication and attention to detail.

How did you get started in the business? – My dad has been in architectural practice for 46 years, with 25 of those years in private practice at his firm, Dennis J. Lyon Architects. Growing up around construction, I experienced the detail planning, the parts, and the pieces that went into creating some terrific projects. I knew at an early age that I wanted to work in the construction industry. I attended UNL and graduated in 1994 with a BS in Construction Management and began to work with JE Dunn Construction in Kansas. In 1996 my wife and I decided to return to Lincoln and start our own business.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – The excellent relationships we’ve made over 20 years of building homes. Numerous clients have selected Keystone Homes for their second custom home, which is a great honor and testament to our reputation for quality and service.

Tell us a little about your family. – My wife, Shelley, is a music teacher at West Lincoln Elementary. We’ve been blessed with three wonderful boys. Spencer and Colby are in high school and are involved with various instrumental and athletic activities. Noah is in elementary school and is involved in band, Lincoln Boys Choir, and various athletics.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Marrying my high school sweetheart. We have been married for 21 years; she is my best friend and more importantly, we share a faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and both continue to help each other grow in our love for Him.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Fishing and hunting with our boys.

What are you most proud of? – My family, both immediate and extended. They are all very loving, fun, and supportive of each other. We always have a great time together.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Always move forward, never go backward.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to be able to play the guitar. My wife and children play several instruments each, and play them all well. I love all different kinds of music, but do not have a musical bone in my body.

If you could choose another profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Farming. I helped on my grandparents’ farm growing up and loved it!

What is your favorite movie? – The Outlaw Josey Wales.

What is your favorite TV show? – The Blacklist.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – FireWorks.
