Raising Cane’s is a quick-service restaurant that prides itself on serving hot and fresh chicken finger meals in a fun environment. Dee Walker is the Director of Marketing for Raising Cane’s.

Tell us a little about your business. – Whether you visit us in our drive-thru or inside the restaurant, our goal is to make sure our guests have a great experience from the moment they arrive. In addition to serving great food, we also know that we wouldn’t be here without the great support of the community and our Caniacs, so we make a point to give back as much to the Lincoln community as we can. Some of our key programs include Cell Phones for Soldiers, Stuff the Bus and Raising Coats for Raising Cane’s.

Tell us a little about your family. – I’m the baby of three. Although she is seven years older, my sister has always been one of my best friends.  Whether letting me borrow her clothes when growing up, giving advice or someone to get a pedicure with, she has been there for me through it all. My brother has always been someone that I’ve looked up to, so much so that when I was in 3rd grade I wanted to do everything he was doing and jumped off a porch because he did and broke my leg.  He’s the guy you call whenever you need a hand with anything, even if that’s moving you for the fifth time. My parents, who now live in Montana, have been my rock and my springboard through so many things. They have taught me so much over the years and even more so now since I’m much more willing to listen then I was when I was 16. I also have an amazing brother-in-law who has been like another big brother to me since I was 9 and nephews who I absolutely adore. Lastly, I’d be remiss to not mention my boyfriend and his family. They have brought more laughter and love into my life over the last year and a half than I ever thought possible.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I always enjoy starting the day off with a run. It sets the pace for the rest of the day and gives you a chance to enjoy a little sunshine on your face. I also make a point to schedule lunch with a friend who I may not have seen for a while, and take time to plan, shop and cook up a good dinner.

What are you the most proud of? – Last year I completed my first full-marathon and am hoping to run my personal best this year.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Truly BE in the moment, no matter what you’re doing.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – A friend.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I’m oddly good at solving Laffy Taffy jokes. That’s a talent, right?

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.

What is your favorite TV show? – Somehow Grey’s Anatomy keeps pulling me back in (is April going to walk out on Matthew?!?) and I also love Modern Family.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Cane’s, of course! But I also love Dish, Bread & Cup and Lazlo’s.
