James Lamb was working as a certifier for the National Association of Home Builders when he began working with Mike Goings, owner of Goings Homes.  Mike was one of the few local builders building his homes to the Green Build standard and James found they worked very well together.  When Mike let him know he was going to be retiring, James knew it would be the perfect fit for him and his wife Tyley to take over as their prior business involved going into older homes and fixing them for energy, comfort and moisture problems.  Goings Homes builds all their homes to the Energy Star and NAHB program standards as their base model.

Tell us a little about your family.
I have a brilliant wife Tyley, an amazing 7-year-old daughter Aliyah and our little man Vincent is 1.  We have another due in May.  We both don’t take it for granted that we grew up in loving homes and have brought that together for something very special in our home.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Having to be responsible for others’ financial security.  It is one thing to grind it out to pay your own bills but when you have others to provide for it brings a complete change to your outlook on the world and how to deal with challenges as they come.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Watch Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana reruns.  Sometimes we let our daughter watch with us.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
That we love to watch Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana reruns.

What are you the most proud of?
Our monster size family.  Wife, 2 ½ kids, parents we both actually like, 14 brother/sister and in-laws and 21 nephews/nieces under 15.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Lift up the seat when I go to the restroom at night (from wife and daughter).  It’s actually more of an ultimatum.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
To have a successful family and that is not determined in any way by a financial goal, but one that teaches our children and family members how important our faith is in Christ and for looking at the world as one we need to share in its love and pain.

How would your friends describe you?
Tyley tolerates James.

Which talent would you most like to have?
Ability to play the piano.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Be as tall as Aaron Marshbanks.
