Jason Olberding is the owner of J-Tech Construction, a local franchise specializing in residential and commercial projects that is committed to excellence, quality, customer service, and working hard to improve the appearance and value of your greatest investments—your home or your business.

Tell us a little about your business. – J-Tech got started back in 2004 with just a gutter machine on a flatbed truck. Since that year we have grown into a company with various machines, equipment, and a brand new showroom. We are very dedicated to employees, customer service, and quality products. We pride ourselves on being Lincoln’s Exterior Experts™.

How did you get started in the business? – Growing up my dad was a siding and window installer. It is the only business that I have ever known.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – It was tough at first (and sometimes still is) for me being as young as I am. Even though I was fully capable it was a challenge to start this business at such a young age.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – To me it is an achievement in itself to simply employ people who care, keep them in a job every day, and provide them with opportunities that they may have never had elsewhere.

Tell us a little about your family. – I’ve been with my wife, Nichole, since we were 18 years old in high school. We have been married now for seven years. She is a RN at Bryan here in Lincoln. We have a four year old little boy named Carter who likes Ninja Turtles and Scooby Doo. We also have an almost two year old named Kellen who loves ‘doo’ (Scooby Doo) and another little boy on the way.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I like to just hang out with my family. We enjoy going to the park and playing tee-ball or going biking; anything fun outdoors.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I am actually rated at close to the skill level of a professional table shuffleboard player.

What are you the most proud of? – Definitely would have to say my family. They provide me with the motivation I need to keep J-Tech growing and striving for excellence.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – My boys would think it would be so cool if I could manipulate ice like Elsa from Frozen.

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – My wife and I, along with another couple, founded New Day Nebraska. The organization helps with the needs of developmentally disabled adults. We founded this because my sister is developmentally disabled and being in that situation we recognized the need for those services.

What is your favorite movie? – Realistically it would be a three way tie between Cool Hand Luke, Good Will Hunting, and Braveheart.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – I have always been fascinated with JFK’s life so I would definitely pick him.

If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? – We are available in the office Monday-Friday until 5 p.m. and encourage folks to stop by and check out our beautiful showroom in historical Havelock. We can also be reached at our toll-free line, (877) 456-6895, via email at office@jtechconst.com, or found on Facebook, Twitter, and various other social media sites.
