Kathy Kaup had been in bartending for over 30 years, 16 of those with Parkway Pub, when she and her husband, along with Bill Hoppe and Bob Davis, purchased Parkway Lanes and Hollywood Bowl in 2002.  The Parkway Pub opened in 1983 in Parkway Lanes. They have been voted Lincoln’s #1 hamburger several times and have seating for 72 with daily specials and the coldest tap beer in town.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
Wearing all of the different hats required when you own a business. Dealing with all types of customers and reading them if you can joke with them or not.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?
Owning the business and meeting all of the different people and making a lot of new friends.

Tell us a little about your family.
My husband Earl and I have been married 25 years. We have two married children and one single son as well as six grandchildren and one great grand daughter.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Becoming co-owners of Parkway Lanes and Hollywood Bowl.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
We live in the country, so I enjoy the slow pace and solitude.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I like to take the bus with my girlfriends to Council Bluffs. I sneeze like a kitten.

What are you the most proud of?
Family, work and friends.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Always smile and be friendly no matter what. Leave your problems at the door.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
To retire and be with my family more.

How would your friends describe you?
Funny with a  big happy face, easy, outgoing until pushed to far.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
I try to utilize all my talents.

Which talent would you most like to have?
Singing

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would spend more time with the grandkids.

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant?
Here of course along with Wilderness Ridge and The Venue. I rate restaurants’ by good coffee and food, silly me.
