The premier leader in car audio, stereo, window tinting, and specialty systems, GP Customs is your source for the latest technology, highest quality workmanship from industry certified technicians, and superior customer service—all for the best prices in town!  Robert Peinado is the owner of GP Customs.

Tell me a little about your business. – GP Customs is a one stop shop. For example, a customer can drop off a vehicle for DVD headrest monitors and get the windows tinted at the same time. Our big holiday special has been installation of remote car starters and heated seats in vehicles that came with neither. Our versatility and willingness to try new things has led us down a path to be industry leaders. I believe that is right where we belong.

How did you get started in the business? – I started GP Customs in 2006 as a window tinting company working exclusively for a couple of car dealerships. Soon after with a small storefront I began to have some walk-in customers; networking and good business practice led me to expand my clientele. I saw a demand for automotive restyling and mobile audio/video and incorporated that into my business. Today GP Customs truly offers almost any automotive service and accessory!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – These last couple of years have been a little difficult; not because we lacked business, but because we had too much business!  Naturally we are in the business of customer service, and with so many customers to please and deadlines to meet things can get a little out of control fast. We just got done building a new facility where we are able to better accommodate customers with a nice lounge and business center.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Starting out in a one stall shop back in 2006, and now just finally closing on a property and opening our new facility that we bought and paid for through all of the years of hard work. We now have a state of the art facility that we own. This is one of the greatest achievements the business has done thus far.

Tell me a little about your family. – My mom is a teacher for Lincoln Public Schools and has been for the last 13 years. My sister graduated with a Biochemistry degree from UNL and is now finishing up with dental school, and my brother in-law graduated with a BSN from UNMC and works at Bryan East. We were blessed last year with an adorable little treasure named Samantha, my niece.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – At first when you start a business of course you get all the support of your friends and family. The moment I knew we had something special was when a random customer came in and said ‘I heard about you from a friend and they said you guys do great work.’ That’s when I knew we had gotten to the next level and really had to build on that.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – On my days off I love to relax, grill out when the weather permits, and hit Big Shots Indoor Range for target practice!

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Blue Sushi Sake Grill.
