JDRF is hosting this year’s in-person One Walk event on Sunday, October 2 at Mahoney State Park. Walk with over 5,000 people to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D). The festivities start at 11:30 a.m., with the walk to follow at 1 p.m.

One Walk aims to raise awareness for T1D and to fundraise to accelerate T1D research breakthroughs to cure, treat, and prevent T1D and its complications. T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. If you have T1D, your pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin from a pump, and carefully monitor your eating and activity every single day.

By joining the JDRF One Walk, you’ll be part of the lasting footprint JDRF will make for the T1D community now and for generations to come. Register for the One Walk today at walk.jdrf.org/lincoln.
