B&R Stores announced that it will no longer purchase ground beef products that contain Lean Finely Textured Beef. While LFTB is approved by the USDA for safety and quality, recent news reports have reduced consumer confidence in the product.

“We value the opinions of our customers and we’re committed to providing high-quality food they can feel good about serving to their families,” said Pat Raybould, president of B&R Stores. “We want to thank our customers who shared their thoughts on this issue.”

B&R Stores will transition to LFTB-free ground beef as quickly as possible throughout the company’s Russ’s Market, Super Saver, Save Best Foods and Grand Central Apple Market stores in Nebraska and Iowa.

B&R Stores, Inc., a Lincoln, Nebraska-based, employee-owned company, was founded in 1964 by Russ Raybould. Since then, the company has grown to include four store concepts (Russ’s Market, Super Saver, Save Best Foods and Grand Central Apple Market) located in seven cities across Nebraska and Iowa.
