Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for New Canopy Row Development

The Lumberworks garage has officially begun its transformation into the new Canopy Row development! An official groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 13th to mark the occasion. In attendance were prominent figures involved in the public/private partnership as well as representatives of the Downtown Lincoln Association, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, and members of the Lincoln community.

When the mixed-use development is completed, it will include Canopy Market, the first grocery store in downtown Lincoln, which is viewed as a critical piece to the redevelopment of the area, along with over 17,000 square feet of street-facing retail spaces along O Street and Canopy Street, over 12,000 square feet of office space within the 5-story building and 53 one- and two-bedroom market-rate apartments. The retail and office spaces were designed to be flexible to fit the varying needs of its occupants. All tenants will benefit from the broad selection of Haymarket amenities and adjacent on-site parking.

In total, Canopy Row will exceed 75,000 square feet across three buildings, at a cost of $11M. It was designed by Encompass Architects and NGC is the general contractor for the project. In partnership with Nelnet, Speedway Properties owns the property and will manage it upon completion.
