Gov. Dave Heineman is set to sign an official proclamation declaring March 2013 Human Resource Professional Month
. The honor coincides with an outreach effort to small businesses throughout the state by the Society of Human Resource Management – Nebraska State Council.
Heineman’s proclamation said that HR professionals are a key component of any organization’s senior management team proving active involvement in shaping corporate policy.
In Nebraska, more than 4,000 HR professionals serve more than 986,200 employees throughout the state. Many belong to professional groups, like SHRM, to share knowledge, promote the profession, and to represent employees and employers in the legislature.
SHRM Nebraska State Council’s outreach includes special seminars to be held in Columbus, Lincoln, Grand Island. North Platte, Norfolk and Omaha throughout March. Nebraska’s own Ray Weinberg, SPHR, will conduct the seminars tailored specifically to small employers who cannot afford extensive HR departments or personnel. Weinberg has written several books on HR and speaks at conferences throughout the U.S. on topics relating to HR.
The Lincoln seminar will be held on March 12th from 1:15 – 3:15 at the Lincoln Firefighter’s Hall.
