NATS (Not Afraid to Sweat) Detasseling (NotAfraidToSweat.com) announced that seed corn acres are projected to increase substantially in counties surrounding Lincoln and Omaha, creating expanded job opportunities for summer 2026.

In 2025, NATS employed more than 550 teens and supervisors and maintained a waitlist of over 150 applicants. The expanded acreage is expected to open additional positions for teachers, bus drivers and teens next season.

As the only detasseling company in Nebraska to receive the Better Business Bureau’s Integrity Award, NATS has become a trusted choice for families. The company’s team-based approach fosters leadership skills, work ethic and community. Many parents report that their teens enjoy returning to detasseling year after year.

“When teens earn money during the summer, they gain both financial confidence and the ability to focus on academics and ACT preparation during the school year,” said Dawn Buell, president of NATS. “The detasseling experience also helps students stand out on future job and college applications.”

Through a partnership with John Baylor’s On To College, NATS employees receive a 25% discount on test-prep services.

NATS has long served as a leader in Nebraska’s agricultural youth-employment sector. In 2019, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development selected the company to represent the state’s detasseling industry on a trade mission to Germany. NATS continues to advocate for agricultural jobs that connect urban, suburban and rural communities.
