The seventh annual Bandit Run will kick off at Restore a Muscle Car LLC (RAMC) in Lincoln on Saturday July 13th.  More than 100 participants from across the country are expected, many driving their own classic Pontiac Trans Ams. The activities-packed trip includes a seven-day itinerary including a car show, and a scenic drive that takes participants through the Badlands National Park, Rapid City, S.D., Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and Colorado National Speedway; an outdoor viewing of Smokey and the Bandit and a tour of the Coors brewery.

Created in 2007, by RAMC, the Bandit Run started as a re-enactment of the journey portrayed in “Smokey and the Bandit,” where Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason) chases a trucker “Snowman” (Jerry Reed), his buddy “Bandit” (Burt Reynolds), a runaway bride “Frog” (Sally Field) and 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana, Texas to Ga.

Open to everyone, (you do not have to drive a Pontiac to participate), this annual traveling car show offers an opportunity for gear heads, Trans Am enthusiasts, fans of the film and more to embrace the Americana-flavored event.
