The Lincoln Track Club
is proud to partner with the Nebraska Football Uplifting Athletes chapter to present the inaugural Nebraska Football Uplifting Athletes Road Race. The event will take place on Sunday, July 21, starting at the Stadium Drive loop just outside the 501 Building on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. There will be a 1-mile fun run at 8 a.m. followed by a 5K run at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $20 for the fun run and $30 for the 5K. All participants will receive a t-shirt and Uplifting Athletes wrist band. All proceeds will benefit pediatric brain cancer research. Registration deadline for the race is midnight July 16. No race-day registrations will be accepted.
Nebraska Football Uplifting Athletes is a Recognized Student Organization at UNL and is one of 21 chapters nation-wide. Each chapter chooses a rare disease to create awareness and raise research funds and the Nebraska chapter selected pediatric brain cancer as a result of the relationship formed between Husker great Rex Burkhead of the Cincinnati Bengals and Jack Hoffman. Annually, thousands of children are diagnosed with brain cancer. Hoffman will be the starter for each race and will be accompanied by others directly impacted by pediatric brain cancer. Also, day of event volunteer support will be provided by members of the Nebraska football and cross country teams and the cheer/dance squads.
